School overview
Our school which is the very first secondary school of modern Mongolia since its foundation in 1923 has remained the biggest school of wisdom and knowledge for hundreds of children of different generations training them and helping them to make choices in their future careers. Our school is a public school with a regular Mongolian public school curriculum. The school takes rightfully an honored place in the education and sciences in Mongolia since the 1920s of the XX century. There are about 3600 students in 60 classes, 92 teachers and 20 service workers in the school. Today, the school is one of the best secondary schools not only within Ulaanbaatar but also throughout the country. We are proud of our achievements and satisfactory assessments are given by the Ministry of Education, and Science to the school.
Community
Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia is home to the majority of the population.The city is the main economic, commercial, political and educational hub for the country. While there are many private schools that involve other specialized curriculum, our public school caters to the educational needs of the ever-growing population.

Curriculum
Primary education spans five years, followed by secondary education, which is split into four years of lower secondary and three years of upper secondary. The academic year runs from September to early June, totaling around nine months, with terms of 16, 8, and 9 weeks and breaks in between. Upper secondary students receive a "Complete Secondary Education Certificate" upon graduation.
From 10th grade, students choose up to four advanced subjects. Grades 11 and 12 follow a traditional schedule with year-long courses, with students attending up to seven 40-minute classes daily and totaling 35-40 class hours per week based on course selection. Grades are recorded as percentages, with an end-of-year grade calculated by averaging the quarter grades and the final exam score.
Graduating class
In the academic year of 2024-2025, the school has an enrollment of about 3600 students in 60 classes, 92 teachers and 20 service workers in the school. There are 281 students in 1st Secondary school’s graduation class of 2025.
Covid related changes
In-person school was suspended in January of 2020 due to Mongolian lockdowns going into effect and lasted until the end of 2021. During this period, our online schooling was implemented, and the schedule was altered to fit our current needs. However, at-school extracurricular activities and academic competitions were completely halted. That may reflected in our students applications-COVID precautions were suspended completely in the 2020-2021 academic year.
Advanced mathematics class
The school curriculum has traditionally emphasized Mathematics, with an advanced mathematics class—established in the 1964-1965 academic year—serving as a model for other schools in Mongolia. Since 1967, over 2,600 students have completed this class, including around 100 prominent scholars. Admission requirements and enrollment exams are rigorous, targeting high-achieving primary school graduates who enhance their skills through peer support and competition. Many students find excelling in this class more challenging than winning national competitions. From grades 10 to 12, students have achieved outstanding results in both national and international math and physics Olympiads, winning 70 percent of medals at the country level.
Advanced classes
Overall, the course load for Grade 12 this year is nineteen courses consisting of a combination of Advanced classes and regular courses. Only the three advanced courses are selected by the students while the remaining 16 courses are mandatory and uniform for all students
